Boston- July 20, 2010 - The Deval Patrick and Tim Murray campaigns today announced that Lowell Mayor Jim Milinazzo has endorsed their campaign for reelection, and will be joining the campaign's grassroots organizing efforts in Lowell.

"I am proud to receive the support of Mayor Milinazzo," said Governor Patrick. "While our state continues to emerge from the global economic recession faster and stronger than the rest of the nation, we are doing everything we can to ensure that our cities and towns have the resources and tools they need to thrive. Mayor Milinazzo has been an excellent partner in these efforts, and I look forward to continuing to work with him in the days ahead as we build a stronger and brighter Commonwealth for generations to come."

"As a former mayor, I know how important it is to have a meaningful partnership between state and municipal governments by investing in projects that create jobs in the short and long-term," said Lieutenant Governor Murray. "Thanks to Mayor Milinazzo's leadership and our partnership with area leaders, Lowell has become a great example of strategic investment creating jobs on many fronts."

"The progress the city of Lowell has made on a number of key development initiatives has been the direct result of the Patrick-Murray administration's emphasis on job creation," said Mayor Milinazzo. "Needed construction jobs and long term employment opportunities have resulted through our strong partnership with the Governor. He is 'on the ground' and knows the issues urban areas are facing."

Mayor Milinazzo's endorsement comes on the heels of recent announcements of endorsements from such officials and organizations as Newton Mayor Setti Warren, Salem Mayor Kimberley Driscoll, Brockton Mayor Linda Balzotti, the Service Employees International Union's State Council, the Massachusetts NOW PAC, Planned Parenthood Advocacy Fund, Neighbor-to-Neighbor and the MassEquality PAC.
