Lt. Governor Murray Works Towards Protecting Troopers, Safer Roads

While Governor Patrick is visiting Massachusetts troops in Iraq, Lt. Governor Tim Murray is meeting with state officials today to discuss increased enforcement efforts on the road that will protect not only the citizens of the Commonwealth, but the troopers working on the roads as well.

  • The meeting comes as a response to a sudden increase in accidents over the last five weeks in which troopers have been struck by a car. In four of the accidents, the driver was drunk.
  • The Governor and Lt. Governor understand that it is imperative to our citizen's safety to keep troopers safe, and to keep drunk drivers off the road.
  • Lt. Governor Murray will meet with the head of state police and several organizations and groups dedicated to making the roads a safer place, including, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the state registry of motor vehicles, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, and AAA of Southern New England.
