Charles Baker Skipped Out on 1/3 of Board of Education Meetings

During his time serving on the Massachusetts Board of Elementary and Secondary Education, Charles Baker missed 1/3 of the meetings. Now, his campaign refuses to tell voters why.

  • Baker has continually attacked Governor Patrick's stance on education reform, meanwhile it turns out that Baker missed 18 out of 56 meetings during his time serving the board from 1999 to 2003.
  • While thousands of citizens including the Governor go to work everyday to better Massachusetts, Charles Baker couldn't be bothered to show up for these meetings and his campaign refuses to tell voters why.
  • Baker has tried to hide that his tax proposals would cut $2.5B from the state budget and devastate school funding.
  • Governor Patrick has remained steadfast when it comes to education in Massachusetts. Massachusetts has the best schools in the nation, and the Governor will make sure that we continue to produce the brightest students in the country.
  • The Governor would not agree to the national standards unless they were as high as or higher than our current standards. Governor Patrick remains firmly committed to the MCAS as a graduation requirement, and as an accountability measure to ensure the success of our students.
