Business Community Stumps for Patrick

Today, the Governor announced the chairs of the newly formed "Business Leaders for Deval Patrick and Tim Murray" committee. The committee includes wide ranges of supporters throughout the entire Massachusetts business community. These business leaders represent the interests of all types of businesses throughout the state, from small, local businesses to CEO's of some of Massachusetts largest employers.

  • Members of the committee are eager to share their support for the Governor and his accomplishments that have improved the business climate of the state. The committee will assist in the campaign by organizing outreach and organization efforts in the business community.
  • Under Governor Patrick, the Massachusetts economy has improved faster and stronger than the rest of the nation, as unemployment continues to decrease and thousands of new jobs have been created.
  • With the creation of 45,000 jobs since December, new unemployment numbers show that Massachusetts continues to improve its unemployment rating, dropping from 9.2% to 9.0% in June.
  • Earlier this week, CNBC announced Massachusetts as the fifth top state for business in its "Top States for Business Countdown 2010." This is the third time Massachusetts has made the top 15 states, coming in fifteenth in 2008 and eighth in 2009, all under Governor Patrick. This is the first time that Massachusetts or any northeastern state has cracked the top five.
